Bishop Gregory Thompson Enthroned as Thirteenth Bishop of Newcastle

Enthronement 1On Sunday 2nd February over thirty parishioners from Saint Peter’s Church joined hundreds of Anglicans from around the Diocese, and civic and Church leaders from the region and across Australia to participate in the Enthronement of Bishop Gregory Thompson as the Thirteenth Bishop of Newcastle.

Amongst them were Geoffrey Seccombe, Diocesan Trustee, Kevin Short, Lay Secretary of Synod, and Richard Fellows, one of our Pastoral Care Workers who presented Bishop Greg with symbols of the outreach ministries of the parishes of the Diocese.  Father David, joined the other members of the Cathedral Chapter in welcoming Bishop Greg as he entered the Great West Doors of the Cathedral at the commencement of the service.

We continue to pray daily for our new Father in God.

Bishop Greg’s arrival was anticipated by the Maitland Mercury here.
