We look forward to welcoming Brother David Luke Henton BSG as the guest preacher at our Patronal Festival weekend on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July as we celebrate Saints Peter and Paul together, and give thanks for the life and ministry of the Church of Saint Peter in East Maitland.
Br David Luke will be preaching at all services during the weekend, and at the 9.30 am Sung Mass we will be joined by our Junior Choir. Please also plan to be with us for our Bring and Share Lunch at 12.30 pm on Sunday 6th July.
Brother David Luke Henton BSG is a Gregorian Friar, social worker, educator, and member of St. James Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas, USA, where he serves as a layreader, Eucharistic Visitor, healing minister, and member of the parish prayer and pastoral care teams.
A spiritual director and graduate of the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, he also maintains a seasonal retreat and hospitality ministry at St. Brigid’s Rest in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, USA, where he serves at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, a summer chapel of the Diocese of the Rio Grande. Within the Brotherhood of Saint Gregory, he is the incoming Director of Education for the community.
Fr David, our Parish Priest had the great joy of entering the postulancy of the Brotherhood of Saint Gregory with Brother David Luke in 2005, and God willing, they anticipate making their Life Profession of Vows within that Religious Community on the Feast of Saint Mary the Mother of God in August 2015. Brother David Luke tells us that he is delighted by the opportunity to be with the Anglican parish family of East Maitland to celebrate our Patronal Festival with us, and we are pleased to be welcoming him!
