To this end we have been developing new programmes in the life of our Church and have been in conversation with Diocesan Officers about the possibility of partnering to bring a leader on to our ministry staff to help us specifically to further develop our family ministries.
We are very excited and grateful that Elizabeth Robinson has joined the ministry staff of the Parish as a joint project between the Parish Council and the Children, Education and Youth (CEY) Commission of the Diocese of Newcastle.
Elizabeth will be helping us to serve families who come to the church to bring their children for baptism, wedding families, families who connect with the church through our outreach programmes, and the families who are linked to our Play Time pre-school group, God Time Family Eucharist, our Junior Choir, Sunday School and the Youth Group.
In the coming months Elizabeth will be progressively taking over responsibility for co-ordinating Play Time, God Time, Sunday School, the Youth Group and connections with our baptisms, and helping us to explore how we might connect with local schools and our wedding families, as well as co-ordinating some new events and preparing for next year’s Confirmation programme.
This is a big task, and Elizabeth will be with us for three days each week. Elizabeth says, “I am thrilled (and a little nervous!) to be beginning a new ministry position here at Saint Peter’s. I’ve loved being a part of the family here for as long as I can remember, so it is truly wonderful to be even more deeply involved, and to take part in the life here as part of the team!”
Elizabeth was commissioned by Archdeacon Arthur Copeman at the Sung Mass on Sunday 31st August. You can watch her commissioning here:
