This year the Season of Lent begins on Wednesday 1st March.
Ashes have been used down through the centuries as a sign of grief and sorrow for sins. Whenever Christians approach God for forgiveness they do so in the light of the saving work of the Cross.
As ash is placed on our forehead on Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) we experience both an awareness of our sinfulness and fragility, and also the assurance of God’s love and grace as we hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you will return. Turn away from sin, and be faithful to Christ.”
Please join us in church as we begin our Lenten journey together:
7.30 am Morning Prayer
8 am Mass with Imposition of Ashes
5.30 pm Evening Prayer
6 pm Mass with Imposition of Ashes
